About Us
Joyful Noise Choral Series
The Philadelphia Eagles named Joyful Noise Director Allison Fromm Eagles 2002 Community Quarterback finalist and runner-up and presented Joyful Noise with a $3,500 grant on her behalf. The Eagles' award is being used to fund a series of seven new compositions commissioned especially for Joyful Noise. Composers Chester Alwes, James Bassi, Gerald Cohen, Elliot Levine, Alice Parker, Steven Sametz and Jon Washburn have offered to match the Eagles' donation by contributing some of their time to create new music especially for Joyful Noise and similar ensembles. The chorus has premiered the series’ first three works: Elliot Levine’s Make a Joyful Noise, Jon Washburn’s The “We Love to Sing” Song, and Alice Parker’s Memories Flow.
Ron Jeffers, a member of Joyful Noise’s International Advisory Committee, is publishing the Joyful Noise Choral Series with earthsongs music. Thanks to the generosity of earthsongs and of Elliot Levine, copies of all three pieces will be distributed to conductors who attend Melodies that Sing: We Love to Sing this Song with Alice Parker and Joyful Noise at the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Convention on February 16, 2008
